Glastonbury and Wimbledon 2013: Guide to the weekend on BBC Red Button

As the BBC transmits a record weekend of extra coverage, with up to 360 hours of digital content available this weekend from Glastonbury, Wimbledon and Silverstone, a516digital provides your guide to the expanded BBC Red Button service this weekend.

  • Online and cable: In addition to extra BBC Red Button coverage, further streams (up to six streams from Glastonbury alone) are available online and via Virgin Media's TiVo as part of the BBC's new Connected Red Button service.
  • Viewers with Freeview may need to retune to get Red Button 2 on channel 302 (otherwise a retune message is displayed). BBC Red Button 302 is not available for viewers receiving the reduced basic Freeview channel line-up. BBC Red Button HD is only available on Freeview via Freeview HD receivers.
  • Sky: Red Button HD is not available on Sky.
  • Satellite: Viewers in Europe can see BBC Red Button 2 and 3 on Eutelsat 28A, frequency 12643, vertical polarisation, symbol rate 27500.
  • Schedules may change at short notice.

FAQ:

Why does BBC One or BBC Two sometimes show the same Wimbledon match that's being shown on one of the Red Button streams?
Wimbledon coverage on BBC One and BBC Two tends to switch in and out of Wimbledon matches, and the matches selected to be featured may depend on whether or not a high-profile player is participating. The BBC Red Button service will usually pick a match or court and stay with that match and court. It would be unfair to viewers who have selected a Red Button service if the coverage was cut just because either BBC One or Two have opted-in to the coverage from that court, and force them to switch channels. Once a particular match is over, the Red Button service may stay in that court for the next match, while BBC One or Two move onto another match on another court, show highlights or other features.
