Freeview moves in with Digital UK

Co-ordination of the UK's digital terrestrial television platform will be strengthened from next month when Digital UK and Freeview start operating from the same offices for the first time.

The Freeview team is joining Digital UK at its current base in Percy Street in London, allowing the two companies, who will continue to operate as separate organisations, to work more closely.

Freeview will focus on marketing, brand licensing and working with the consumer electronics industry, while Digital UK will take the lead in launching new services, technical management and platform policy.

This is the second major change behind the scenes of digital terrestrial television this year. On the 1st January 2013, switchover body Digital UK merged with DMOL - the company operated by the digital multiplex operators - to form one organisation responsible for the technical side of the platform.
