Mail Travel TV closes down

Mail Travel TV: How the service looked when it was on air
Holiday text service Mail Travel TV has closed down. It previously operated on Freeview 205. An on-screen caption and TV Guide listings inform viewers that it has ceased operation.

A placeholder for the service first appeared on Freeview on the 31st May 2012 with the service launching on the 5th July 2012. It originally occupied channel 106 before moving to channel 205 in the September reshuffle of Freeview channel numbers.

Holidays TV, which replaced Teletext Holidays on Freeview at the beginning of October has taken over the capacity used by Mail Travel TV on the SDN multiplex. Holidays TV had already begun to swallow up capacity used by Mail Travel TV back in November. Both Mail Travel TV and Holidays TV came under the operations of a subsidiary of the Daily Mail group.
