Freeview viewers to be able to "Argos It" on channel 55

UPDATE 7PM 14/09: DMOL has today announced that it has allocated teleshopping channel Argos TV a channel number on Freeview from 19th September 2012.

It is assumed that the shopping channel will go live as soon as the Freeview EPG reshuffle, also planned on this date has occured. The service will not be available on so-called "Freeview Lite" relay transmitters.

The service will broadcast daily between 1800 and 2300 hours, occupying Al Jazeera's former evening slot on Arqiva's commercial multiplex. The news channel is going 24 hours on that day.

Argos TV originally launched in June 2011 on Sky, before being added to Freesat in October 2011. Viewers are able to purchase items and collect them from local Argos stores through the retailer's "check and reserve" service. 

Argos TV joins fellow shopping channels QVC, QVC Beauty, Ideal World, Create & Craft, bid, price drop, Rocks & Co, Gems TV and The Jewellery Channel on Freeview, bringing the total to 11 shopping channels.
