Freesat to lose two channels in Sony Pay TV launch

Free to air satellite platform Freesat will lose Movies4Men2 and Movies4Men2+1 (channels 306 and 307) from this Thursday, as new owner Sony launches a new pay TV film service in its place.

The EPG for these channels stops from the 3rd, and is replaced by listings for the new service. However, when the Movies4Men2 and 2+1 channels turn into Sony Movies and +1, they are to become encrypted, meaning that only Sky subscribers will be able to watch these channels. Sony TV has confirmed that it would not be bringing any of its Sony-branded channels to Freesat in the immediate future.

Movies4Men1 and +1 and stablemate Men and Movies are expected to continue transmitting as normal on both Sky and Freesat. Last year, Movies4Men - under its former owner, Dolphin Media, transmitted to the Manchester area on Freeview on a trial basis.

  1. Shame that free to air content will be heading the way of the payguard but to be honest not many will miss them along with the fact one is a +1.

Tried them on tvcatchup and didn't appeal.
